An element of working that I bet a lot of people can relate to is that if you dont take care to really note things that happen... they just fly by and disappear. That happens to me a lot, but in particular it happened to me for these stretch of days! Anyways, gonna pull what I can from this segment and move on. I really need to up the pace of posting these because as it stands 2026 will be over before I finish writing the last few months of 2025.
Finally got the equipment to set up my office!
The final piece of exodia arrived in the mail (the network switch with usb C charging) I needed to run to the store and buy another cat 6 Ethernet cable since I did a little bit of my math wrong.. But no trouble! Cuz i can get ethernet anywhere, and there was a spot like a 5 minute walk away that I popped over to. Dude there was really chill, and turns out they even offer delivery for 50 INR which is totally worth it. He gave me his info and told me to hit him up if i need anything in the future. But I have managed to set up both my office and my in home wifi so that everywhere has internet! It isnt great internet, and some spots are a little iffy still. But the two rooms that mater the most to me are covered now - yay!
Stopped by a candy store on the way home. Tried a bunch of random sweets. They were all very jammy/jelly esq. I really liked them, but couldnt tell you at all what they were.
I spent some time trying to get all of my old commissions backed up in drive. There are some that i just cant find anymore, which is kinda a shame. Even if I didnt like them all that much i would like to have them saved. One nice thing that happened during this process is that I remembered my old deviant art account name and was able to find the DMs with one of my first commission artists. The one who drew my creation trio piece. I love that art. One of my favorites for sure!
I tried organizing with Willy to go get sushi, there was a spot that had come highly recommended that I wanted to try. We made our way out there but unfortunately it was closed >< they just had a sign on the door and apparently they had been shut down from the 20th to the 4th. Such a shame!
We ate at a spot nearby, just classic Indian fare. The food was good and the price was even better! We had 2 entrees, 2 apps, 4 accompanying sides/breads or maybe 6 I dont remember for sure… and all told it was 20$ for the both of us. WITH TIP. talk about value!
Afterwards we decided to watch a movie. Loaded up a film called "Good boy", its a horror flick from the perspective of a dog. The way they filmed it was very interesting. Because you almost never saw anyone's face, and the camera was usually much lower than normal. Made me think of that one kurasawa film about tatami mats or whatever.
On my way home I ran into some random guy on a motercycle. He was very interested in being friends. I figured it might be fun to hang out with some locals now and then so we changed numbers. - I'll go ahead and wrap that story up here. I would have been down to grab dinner or drinks to see whats up, but this dude would ONLY reach out after 9pm. Like man, I'll go out that late maybe... if I know someone and like them. Like we had organized to link up at 6 or 7 (very reasonable times) a couple of times.... but when it came time to actually gather nothing happened - then he would call at like 9 or later?? It was odd. Might have been normal for indian friendships, but I wasnt into it.
Back in the state Boy House Closed was loading up. This is the yearly private Warhammer competition that my good friends and I will have every fall. Unfortunately I was not able to participate in this one, so Mick took my place in the roster. Though in preperation for it I helped Ethan edit the video of last years event. That is another part of the tradition. We film the fun and put it together in a recap video every year, and this one was no different. It was nice working on a video project again, and this time around I was actually useful in the editing since I could gather B-roll for jokes and stuff. 2026's competition features a Bowser wheel, like from the hit game Mario Party. Basically once a game whoever was loosing had a chance to roll the wheel and something would happen. I made a very funny rule for it, the concept was that all of the possibilities on the wheel were known... Except for one that simply said "Trevin's Turn". If "Trevin's Turn" was spun Ethan would use a password that I had sent to Connor to unzip an file that I had prepared. I've listed my rule below. I dont have access to the other rules now, but after reviewing them I went waaaaay overboard with mine. All of the other things on the board were very basic and had basically no impact on the board. Mine? Very tough. I think it was activated in the game between Mick and Paul.
Rowdy Roulette!
Each player selects a unit they control, then rolls 1D6+2.
One number will represent the MINUMUM rounds Rowdy Roulette must be rolled, the other will represent how many MORTAL WOUNDS will be taken each round.
The player who currently has fewer victory points gets to choose which number is which - Rounds=[R] and Wounds=[W].
Each round follows these steps:
1: The players roll off.
2: The losing player's unit takes [W] mortal wounds. These wounds cannot be avoided or mitigated in any way. If the unit is destroyed by this damage, its controller must select a new unit for the next round of Rowdy Roulette.
3: In the event of a tie, both players are considered "Losers" and must take the damage.
4: If Rowdy Roulette has not been played [R] times, then repeat from Step 1.
5: After the [R]th round of Rowdy Roulette - The winning player may choose to play again or end Rowdy Roulette. In the event of a tie, the most recent WINNER of Rowdy Roulette chooses whether or not to continue.
The Rowdy Roulette can only end after [R] rounds AND the winner of the final round chooses to stop playing.
Ummmm. Ended up Working a couple of days with my manager which was nice. At the tail end of last week the word on the street was that Seth, Shawn, Willy, and myself would all be basically trading 2 "I get to go to work" tokens. So at any given time only two of us would be in the office. But what was odd is that despite this, Shawn was in the office when I was set to be there. Didnt bother me none, just meant that I finally had someone around who I could ask questions when I needed info. That was nice.
I attended some work trainings/events. Nothing too interesting just basic advice from people who have been in this environment longer than the rest of us.
